Background Sound Recorder Android App
ru.ag38.backgroundsoundrecorder

The application does not forward any private information: phone numbers, contact names, account names, sound recordings, phone call recordings to any online service except the ones that are explicitly authorized by the user. The application does not secretly collect any metadata on the user's phone calls and contacts. All the information it collects is stored either in the application's private folder on the device, or in the public folder for sound recordings, defined in the application's settings by the user.

Dropbox

The application can upload sound recordings to Dropbox only after the user has explicitly granted access to their Dropbox account. The user always has the ability to revoke the application's access to their account, either from the Dropbox web interface, of from within the app ("discard access key" in the Settings). As from the moment of authorization the uploading is done in automatic, unattended mode, the user should bear their own responsibility for the fact that their sound recordings and phone call recordings are automatically uploaded to Dropbox.

Google Drive

The application can upload sound recordings to Google Drive only after the user has explicitly granted access to their Google account. The user always has the ability to revoke the application's access to their account, either from the Google Drive web interface, of from within the app ("discard access key" in the Settings). As from the moment of authorization the uploading is done in automatic, unattended mode, the user should bear their own responsibility for the fact that their sound recordings and phone call recordings are automatically uploaded to Google Drive.

Access, Usage, Storage and Sharing of Google User Data

Only the access token granted by Google Drive is stored in the application's settings. The BSR app does not know or store or share the e-mail of the Google user or any information about them except the access token. The access token gives it access to the Google Drive folder specified by the BSR app user in the BSR app setting (by default, the folder is called "BSR"). The access token is used only to create subfolders in that restricted folder and upload files into those folders.

FTP

The application can upload sound recordings to any FTP server only after the user has explicitly specified the server's host name, login name and password. As FTP uploading is done in automatic, unattended mode, the user should bear their own responsibility for the fact that their sound recordings and phone call recordings are automatically uploaded to the FTP server, if the FTP access credentials are specified correctly.

The FTP transport protocol used the app is unencrypted! Therefore, the data transmissions can theoretically be intercepted by third parties. Avoid using FTP uploading if you are highly concerned about privacy, prefer Dropbox or Google Drive.

Password and Access Token Storage

The FTP server password, Dropbox access token, and Google Drive account name and access token are all stored in the application's shared preference file, in the application's private folder. They are stored in an unencrypted form; however, on most Android devices, the application preferences can only be read by the appropriate app and are hidden from other apps. However, "rooted" devices can let other applications or malicious software read the contents of any app's preference files. Hence, by "rooting" their devices, users take full responsiblity for keeping the FTP password and access tokens private.
